Switzerland June

Up

Switzerland with Geoff and Shaun and also Thomas for some of the holiday.

Sunday 26th June 2005:  An uneventful journey out to Switzerland although it did mean leaving home at 3am.

Monday 27th June 2005:  Having missed out the summit of the Trogenhorn last year we had to go back.  About 7 hours walk from Habkern via Trogenalp and back.  A glorious day.

Looking up at the Trogenhorn 1973m

Views from the top

Tuesday 28th June 2005: A walk from Saxeten to the viewpoint at Ballehochst and then on to Grutschalp.  A lovely day again.  We started with a ride in the smallest Post-Coach I have used

On our way to Ballehochst

The view from Ballehochst at 2095m

nearing Grutschalp

Wednesday 29th June 2005: A wet day for a change so we went to the St Beatus caves before meeting up with Thomas

Thursday 30th June 2005: We decided to start our 2 day walk from Murren to Kandersteg; the weather was not ideal but we had no other choice.

Ready for the "off" in Murren.

Heading for the Sefinenfurgge Pass (2612m)

Then it was downhill to Griesalp to stay the night at Golderli

Friday 1st July 2005: An early start to go over the Hohturli to Kandersteg.

Unfortunately the weather deteriorated and we did not have the views we had hoped for.
The height at the pass was 2778m and 2834m at the Blumlisalp Hut

A glimpse of the glaciers and then heading for Oeschinensee

Saturday 2nd July 2005: A short walk to the cave, NW of Seefeld near Habkern before Thomas flew home

Sunday 3rd July 2005: A short walk NE of Bolsiten near Habkern in super weather before we had to return home ourselves
